100 Acre Wood

August 13, 2009

While searching for a new cache for minime I came across an awesome series of caches based on Winnie the Pooh.

There are 13 locations in the Surrey/Langley area, each corresponding to a spot in the Hundred Acre Wood. The spots have clues to a larger, final cache. This final cache originally included travel bugs of 4 main Winnie the Pooh characters and some neat swag. Pretty sure most of that is gone now, but it’ll still be a fun adventure!

Decided to start with one close-ish to home.

GC1FP82 – Floody Place
Regular cache – Easy Spot – Easy Terrain

The park this cache was in is REALLY pretty. I’d driven by it a few times, and I’ve walked some of the paths. Nice time of year to go there, very lush.

We were getting close so I let minime take the GPS and lead us to the cache, she did a really great job!!

So the particular location was a tad… overgrown? This one was easier to find though. Had a teeny bit more of an idea what we were doing. And it was a regular sized cache instead of something really really teeny.

Took a bit of convincing to get minime into the grass but she came!

She finally did though, we almost got spotted by some Muggles! Pretty sure we got out of sight fast enough. Hunted around a bit, certain we were in the right spot when we spotted it!

Was a pretty neat cache! Stuff from a few different provinces and a nice sized log book. We logged our find on the GPS and then minime put her name into the log after mine.

Traded a bit of swag, she was pretty happy with that, then we packed it all up and snuck out. Almost got busted by one more group of Muggles and then made it to the path.

Hehe, silly Muggles!

  1. The Winnie the pooh geocache theme is a really neat touch, and I must say, given the height of the undergrowth I’m somewhat surprised the two of you didn’t end up lost in there.
